The original soundtrack to the 2001 PlayStation 2 classic Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil is one of the most musically inventive, eclectic video game scores of the early 2000s. Crafted by Namco’s legendary sound team—including Go Shiina, Kanako Kakino, Asuka Sakai, and Kohta Takahashi—the score assigns distinct sonic motifs to the four emotional realms of Lunatea (Tranquility, Joy, Discord, and Indifference). Musically, it spans an astonishing range of genres: breezy, acoustic-driven Shibuya-kei pop (the fan-favorite "Stepping Wind"), kinetic big beat and drum & bass, whimsical carnival waltzes, and aggressive, industrial-tinged techno ("Volk Burning"). Rather than relying on static loops, the tracks are rich in organic instrumentation complete with lush strings, dynamic live sounding drums, buoyant jazz basslines, and traditional ethnic percussion mingled with warm, dreamy synthesizers.
