Originally released in February 1994 and featured here as its 30th Anniversary "Baby Blue" vinyl pressing, Green Day’s major-label debut Dookie ignited the 1990s poppunk explosion by distilling 1970s British punk, Buzzcocks melodies, and 924 Gilman Street basement grit into radio ready perfection. Produced by Rob Cavallo and mixed by Jerry Finn, the album sounds punchy, dry, and relentlessly kinetic. It is driven by Billie Joe Armstrong’s overdriven, chimey Fernandes Strat ("Blue") slammed through modified Marshall amps, Mike Dirnt’s treble-heavy, melodic P-bass runs, and Tré Cool’s manic, highly articulate drum fills.
