eleased in 2021, Woo'd Early is an immersive, tactile ambient and drone record helmed by Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist and Patient Sounds founder Matthew Sage (recording under his Free Dust moniker). Sonically, the album exists in a state of suspended, sun-dappled stillness, built primarily around delicate electric guitar phrases, magnetic tape loops, and subtle electronics that were tracked in Chicago. Rather than cold or clinical synthesizer drone, this record breathes with an organic, pastoral warmth layering tape hiss, soft room acoustics, slow decaying guitar swells, and gentle harmonic drift that mimics the slow passage of light across a room in the early morning.
