More Info:
Masterminded by returning legendary composer Alan Menken alongside co-producer and lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda, the recording revitalizes the immortal 1989 Menken/Howard Ashman songbook with rich, modern symphonic sweep and Caribbean-infused rhythms. The indisputable centerpiece of the release is Halle Bailey’s performance as Ariel; her renditions of "Part of Your World" (and its climactic reprise) discard sterile auto-tune perfection in favor of raw emotional resonance, soaring dynamic range, and stunning, effortless vocal agility that immediately silences any remake skepticism. Miranda’s contemporary additions introduce playful stylistic shifts, from Prince Eric’s soaring, sea-spray power ballad "Wild Uncharted Waters" (sung by Jonah Hauer-King) to the rapid-fire syncopated hip-hop cadence of "The Scuttlebutt" with Awkwafina and Daveed Diggs. Anchored by lavish, wide-stereo orchestral arrangements recorded with full brass and lush harp flourishes, the vinyl cut delivers warm acoustic low-end and crisp dynamic headroom, making it a vibrant, gorgeously staged modern Disney companion piece that honors Ashman’s lyrical genius while letting Bailey’s generational voice shine front and center.
