More Info:
The soundtrack to Bill Pohlad’s biographical drama Dreamin' Wild captures the poignant, stranger-than-fiction redemption arc of brothers Donnie and Joe Emerson. Decades after the teenage duo self-recorded and privately pressed their bedroom-pop masterpiece on their family farm in Fruitland, Washington, only to sink into obscurity and severe financial debt, crate-diggers rediscovered the record, turning songs like "Baby" into modern underground classics. The soundtrack thoughtfully mirrors this multi-decade narrative by blending the original 1979 lo-fi analog home recordings with newly recorded tracks and cast performances. Original cuts like "Baby," "Give Me The Chance," and the sweeping title track "Dreamin' Wild" radiate pure teenage soul and bedroom-pop intimacy, defined by tape flutter, warbling electric piano, and Donnie's impossibly yearning, breathy vocal leads. Alongside these vintage jewels, the LP presents sensitive, deeply faithful interpretations sung by cast members Casey Affleck, Noah Jupe, and Jack Dylan Grazer, framed by understated, melancholic instrumental score work from Leopold Ross. Mastered for vinyl by John Baldwin with meticulous care, the pressing preserves the fragile analog warmth and room ambience of the original 1970s tape reels while seamlessly integrating modern recordings into a cohesive, heart-wrenching tribute to brotherly love, artistic obsession, and overdue musical recognition.
