More Info:
The Devil Wears Prada’s Zombie EP stands as a watershed, career-defining masterstroke that permanently elevated the Dayton outfit from Warped Tour scenecore favorites into genuine heavyweight contenders of modern American metalcore. Recorded with longtime producer Joey Sturgis at The Foundation Recording Studios in Connersville, Indiana, the five-track concept record abandoned the lighthearted synth flourishes of the band's earlier work in favor of pure, claustrophobic, survival-horror brutality. Driven by the devastating guitar tandem of Chris Rubey and Jeremy DePoyster, the songs deliver relentless thrash tempos, dissonant panic chords, and bone-snapping breakdowns calibrated with lethal precision. Daniel Williams’ pulverizing double-kick work and blast beats drive tracks like "Escape," "Outnumbered," and "Survivor," while James Baney trades trance-style arpeggios for unsettling cinematic ambiance, air-raid sirens, and eerie emergency broadcast interludes. Mike Hranica turns in what remains his most visceral vocal performance, trading philosophical musings for raw, frantic, throat-tearing accounts of barricaded doors and dwindling ammunition. The result sounds punishing, focused, and genuinely terrifying, capturing modern metalcore at its most desperate and lethal peak.
