More Info:
The Head on the Door stands as the pivotal, technicolor masterstroke where Robert Smith unlocked the golden ratio between brooding post-punk gloom and buoyant, widescreen alternative pop. Co-produced by Smith and Dave Allen at Genetic Studios, the album marked the debut of what many consider the quintessential mid-to-late-’80s Cure lineup: Simon Gallup returned on bass to anchor the low-end, Porl Thompson joined on guitars, sax, and keyboards, Lol Tolhurst moved permanently to synthesizers, and powerhouse drummer Boris Williams took over behind the kit.
