More Info:
Endless (未完) marks the expansive, emotionally charged sophomore full-length from Dalian instrumental ensemble Summer Fades Away (时过夏末). Arriving after more than a decade of creative incubation following their revered 2011 debut A Window Unto The West, the Northern Chinese collective demonstrates an extraordinary mastery of cinematic patience and atmospheric world-building. Eschewing generic, predictable crescendo formulas, the sextet constructs long-form narrative epics that weave traditional Chinese melodic sorrow with monolithic post-rock dynamics. Gentle, crystalline acoustic guitars and fragile piano motifs float through wide stereo field reverbs, gradually intertwining with sweeping violin flourishes, ethereal synth washes, and subtle glockenspiel accents. When the compositions inevitably erupt, the group detonates into colossal walls of distorted shoegaze texture, anchored by thunderous, polyrhythmic drum runs and warm, resonant low-end basslines. Pressed to vinyl with exceptional dynamic range and low surface noise, the physical cut provides generous headroom for both the quiet, contemplative natural decays and the staggering, room-shaking climaxes, delivering an essential, deeply poetic triumph of modern Asian post-rock.
