More Info:
Still Remains’ major-label debut Of Love and Lunacy is a quintessential artifact of mid-2000s melodic metalcore with a distinctive Euro-metal twist. While built upon the familiar Gothenburg-style twin-guitar harmonies, chugging drop-tuned breakdowns, and driving double-bass work championed by peers like Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying, the Grand Rapids six-piece set themselves apart by heavily integrating Zach Roth’s keyboards and piano. Rather than generic string pads, the keys deliver tasteful neoclassical runs, gothic ambiance, and haunting piano interludes that weave directly into blistering riffs on tracks like "White Walls" and "The Worst Is Yet to Come". Frontman T.J. Miller leads the charge with an emotive, urgent rasp, fluidly shifting from raw, impassioned screams and guttural lows to soaring, anthemic clean choruses bolstered by guitarist Mike Church’s backing harmonies. The result is an explosive, melodrama-charged balance of ferocious mosh-pit weight and grand, theatrical melody that captures 2000s metalcore at its most dramatic and hook-laden peak.
