More Info:
Structured around esoteric hermetic philosophy, Freemasonic iconography, and alchemical transformation, the sixty-six-minute runtime cleanly bisects into two opposing philosophical and tonal hemispheres: Chaos (Lower Law) across Sides A and B, followed by Order (Higher Law) across Sides C and D. The first half roils with turbulent post-metal tension, where low-tuned baritone guitars grind through punishing, abrasive distortion, subterranean bass rumbles, and thunderous, irregular percussive marches on sprawling compositions like "The Slings And Arrows Of Outrageous Fortune," "Warhorse," and "Pillar Of Mercy / Pillar Of Severity". Flipping to the second disc, the music undergoes a luminous sonic distillation, stretching out into majestic, slow-blooming instrumental epics like "Nigredo Melancholia: A Black Blacker Than Black" and the thirteen-minute finale "Magnum Opus: Ordo Ab Chao". Here, the grit yields to pristine analog delay washes, cathedral-like reverb trails, delicate ambient synth pads, and soaring tremolo guitars that climb toward earth-shaking, cathartic crescendos. Cut to vinyl across four sides with massive stereophonic separation and expansive dynamic headroom, the physical pressing ensures every quiet guitar pick scrape and fragile cymbal decay breathes effortlessly before collapsing into seismic, room-shaking post-rock bliss.
