Contact is an intimate, haunting collaboration between Spanish ambient composer Pepo Galán and Berlin-based choreographer and vocalist Sita Ostheimer. This record bridges delicate modern classical textures and deep listening ambient drone with spoken word and ethereal, fragmented singing. On Contact, Galán builds a shadowy, melancholic foundation out of muted piano chords, tactile tape hiss, and slow blooming synthesizer pads, accented by mournful cello lines courtesy of Macarena Montesinos and subtle guitar/synth treatments by Lee Yi. Over this submerged, oceanic soundscape, Ostheimer’s voice hovers closely, delivering poetry with whispered proximity and quiet vulnerability that touches on human isolation, touch, and distance.
