More Info:
Whip represents a ferocious, existential rebirth from western German instrumental post-metal collective Kokomo. Arriving after the longest hiatus of their recording career, the quintet translates Nietzschean philosophical reflections on modern nihilism, disquiet, and the erosion of cultural anchors into a staggering wall of kinetic sound. Rather than lingering inside polite, ambient post-rock restraint, the band leans heavily into visceral post-metal crunch, sludge weight, and blackgaze-tinted aggression that will resonate with fans of Russian Circles, Amenra, and Cult of Luna. Monolithic, downtuned guitar riffs alternate between hypnotic, doom-paced chords and razor-sharp tremolo leads, slicing through dense layers of analog distortion while basslines hit with chest-rattling low-end dominance. Percussion anchors the fury with pummeling double-kick rolls, snappy snare cracks, and volatile dynamic swings that pivot on a dime from atmospheric gridlock to chaotic, full-throttle crescendos on standout tracks like the blistering single "A Torinói Ló". Pressed in-house by dunk!pressing across a series of striking visual wax configurations, the vinyl cut delivers unyielding dynamic headroom and explosive low-end punch that lets the raw amplifier grit and room air rattle with punishing, cathartic intensity.
