Dreamcar is the unabashedly retro, neon-soaked self titled debut from the supergroup uniting AFI frontman Davey Havok with No Doubt’s instrumental trio—bassist Tony Kanal, guitarist Tom Dumont, and drummer Adrian Young. Rather than leaning into the gritty punk or ska-pop backgrounds of its members, the album is a stylish and sleek love letter to early-to-mid 1980s New Romantic dance-rock, synth-pop, and post-punk, explicitly echoing Duran Duran, A Flock of Seagulls, The Cars, and Head on the Door era The Cure.
