More Info:
Gravel & Gold marks Dierks Bentley’s landmark tenth studio album and his most comprehensive artistic synthesis to date. Taking full reins as producer for the first time after scrapping two prior recording attempts to get the balance right, Bentley deliberately bridges the distinct sonic chapters of his two-decade career: classic 1990s neo-traditional country, arena-ready heartland rock, and the high-lonesome bluegrass roots first showcased on 2010's Up on the Ridge. The production is warm, organic, and spacious, favoring authentic acoustic instruments tracked live in the room over sterile digital loops. Bluegrass luminaries like Jerry Douglas on Dobro, Sam Bush on mandolin, Bryan Sutton on flatpicked acoustic guitar, and Charlie Worsham provide staggering instrumental depth across the tracklist. The record moves effortlessly from the sun-drenched, radio-friendly drive of "Gold" and the introspective storytelling of "Same Ol' Me" to rowdy honky-tonk moments like "Cowboy Boots" with Ashley McBryde and the dizzying, high-octane bluegrass breakdown of "High Note" featuring guitar phenom Billy Strings. Mastered with punchy dynamic range, the vinyl pressing lets the woody acoustic resonance, pedal steel sighs, and Bentley's weathered, sandpapery baritone ring out with pristine Nashville studio clarity.
