Character is regarded as one of the band's most aggressive and technically intense releases, Character dialed back the mid-tempo gothic textures of its predecessor Damage Done in favor of frantic tempos, intricate dual-guitar riffs (Niklas Sundin and Martin Henriksson), and Mikael Stanne's entirely harsh, razor-sharp vocals (with zero clean singing).
